This is a two day tournament and a continuation of the Area VIII sectional tournaments held the weekend before.   There are 3 sections within Area VIII and they each have a qualifier tournament.  The top three placewinners from each of the three sectional tournaments wrestle at the Area VIII tournament in a 9 man bracket.  Weigh-ins are on Friday and all wrestlers will wrestle at least one match and some will wrestle two matches.

The action continues on Saturday morning with the 6&under and 7&8 age groups wrestling through completion of all the matches until around 2 PM.  On Saturday morning, the 11&12 and 13&14 age groups wrestle all matches EXCEPT for the finals and consolation finals and are done around 12 noon.  There is an afternoon break and then the finals round starts at about 6 PM.

The top two placewinners in each weight class move on to the state tournament held in Hershey, PA the following weekend.  The only exception is the 6&under age group, which is NOT eligible to move on to the state tournament.

If your son qualifies for the state tournament by placing in the top two at his weight class, EYWC will pay for ONE hotel room for two nights at the state tournament.  EYWC might also pay for a third night so long as the budget allows depending on how many wrestlers qualify for the state tournament.
